Back in 1949, the US officially established May as Mental Health Awareness Month to increase awareness about mental health and wellness. In the decades since, conversations around mental health and mental illness have helped reduce the stigma, creating an environment where more people seek the treatment they need.
At Taboola, we take mental health seriously. Our theme this year is Relax & Destress – something that everyone can relate to and benefit from.
All month long, Taboola employees can participate in various in-person and online events curated to promote relaxation, including mindfulness webinars, in-office chair massages, and more.
We recognize that mental health needs to be tended to and worked on for more than one month a year, which is why we offer a range of mental health programs our employees can take advantage of all year long.
Here’s a look at some of the wellness benefits we offer our team members.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
This program offers a wide range of services that employees can access, including in-the-moment 24/7 phone support from a licensed clinician and short-term counseling, which provides five free sessions with a mental health professional per each “issue.”
The program also puts users in touch with financial planners, local attorneys, and convenience resources such as referrals for child and elder care, housing needs, pet care, and more. All services are easily accessible through a web portal and mobile app and are always 100% confidential.
Family Care Benefits via Care.com
All Taboola employees receive a Care.com membership. Users get unlimited access to a network of vetted child and elderly caregivers at a subsidized rate through the platform.
Members can post job requests for caregivers, housekeepers, pet sitters and groomers, special needs caregivers, personal assistants, errand runners, and more. One of the best aspects of Care.com is that members can run background checks on potential candidates and feel confident that loved ones are in safe, reliable hands.
Balancing a career and a new child is a challenge, and we don’t want our employees to feel like they can’t have it all. We’ve instituted new parental leave policies to make welcoming a new child into the family a little easier.
Primary caregivers receive 26 weeks of paid leave with return-to-work flexibility that includes working 80% during the first two months back while receiving full-time pay. Secondary caregivers receive eight weeks of paid leave which can be taken all at once or spread out over 12 months.
Employees shouldn’t have to choose between a family vacation and much-needed mental health days. That’s why we offer unlimited PTO. We trust that our employees will take time off to recoup when needed, unwind on family vacations, and then return to work feeling refreshed and ready to take on the next project.
Fitness & Wellness Benefits
As physical and mental health are intertwined, Taboola employees receive access to top-notch fitness programs. The Gympass membership offers personal training sessions, access to 10,000+ gyms, live classes, and 30+ wellness apps covering therapy, nutrition, and more.
Eligible UnitedHealthcare members can enjoy a 1-year free Peloton Digital Membership and get reimbursed up to $200 in a six-month period. We’ve also teamed up with Crunch Fitness for special offers, including a 3-day guest pass, among other fitness and wellness benefits.
