As the digital media landscape grows and evolves, more and more marketers are putting emphasis on targeting. Of course this makes sense. If internet advertising is the wild west, targeting is a great Sheriff to keep your numbers and metrics in check. That being said – targeting can often be flawed. Say you’re a company selling baby products. Perhaps you’d target married women ages 25-35, as they’re likely to have children. But how many grandmothers, fathers, and single mothers are you missing out on? This is a simplified example, but regardless of your particular business, there’s a good chance you’re letting a percentage of your audience fall through the cracks. Let Users Opt-In to Your Message This is where content marketing, and more specifically content discovery, can play an important role in your efforts. By putting your value proposition out into the world, users can opt-in and self-select merely by […]
In recent years, content discovery has powered successful marketing campaigns for companies of all sizes, driving a variety of goals throughout the customer funnel for both emerging and established brands, from awareness to consideration to purchase. But launching your first campaign on the world’s largest discovery platform can also involve a learning curve. Below are a few of the common hurdles marketers may face when first setting up a campaign with Taboola, along with tips for how to correct those missteps and see immediate results. My Campaign aren’t Receiving Enough Clicks Taboola operates on a cost-per-click (CPC) model, ensuring that our marketing partners only pay if a user actively chooses to engage with their piece of content. In order to make sure that your campaign is competitive and receives enough initial impressions across the network, it’s important to follow our recommended CPC, make sure your content is safe for all […]
As Taboola expands internationally, we’re getting more new data every day. We decided to see just how different user behavior is from geo to geo. As you build out your content campaigns, take a look at the below data for some inspiration! Negative & Positive Content What do the United States and the United Kingdom have in common? It seems that users from both of these countries click on more negative content (graph shows the calibrated CTR score): Not All Positives Are Created Equal Three words that are commonly used to describe positive content were compared in the nine countries related to this study: ‘Top’, ‘Best’ & ‘Perfect’. Does anyone else see what I see regarding the CTR score in the U.S.? Is the American dream of success and perfectionism demonstrated perfectly in the graph below? Punctuation Marks Have you ever asked yourself if adding punctuation marks makes your […]
Today, residents of the United Kingdom (UK) will vote on whether to leave or remain a part of the European Union (EU), a process which the media has dubbed “Brexit,” and one that will likely have historic ramifications regardless of the outcome. We’ve been keeping eye on reading habits leading up to the big decision, analyzing more than 2900 articles that mention Brexit across 82 news websites throughout the EU. Not surprisingly, interest in the topic is higher in the UK than any other EU country (except for Luxembourg, which houses several of the EU’s major institutions). However, we found an interesting discrepancy in the level of “Brexit” interest across the EU countries, with Italy, Greece, and Belgium expressing the next highest tier of activity, followed closely by Spain. Below is an interactive map of the data which compares the level of interest for each country (as benchmarked against the […]
Financial planning is a complicated undertaking for even the most money-savvy individuals. The availability of online information has made it easier for people to research a variety of investment options, insurance policies, and retirement plans, but there remains a need for resources that can help people sift through the complexity and simplify the decision-making process. Big Decisions offers easy-to-use calculator tools and educational materials which allow people to better manage their personal finances. Over the past year, the company has evolved its marketing strategy beyond traditional display channels, and invested in discovery technology to share its story with new and more highly-engaged audiences across the web. Our teams published a case study about the collaboration, which found that the bounce rate for Taboola-referred users was over 80 percent lower than similar audiences driven by display channels. By reaching users at a moment when they are already engaged with a piece […]
We’re excited to announce that Taboola is an official launch partner with Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project.
We’ll look at the ways that personalization can improve publisher on-site engagement and drive users to high-value types of content.
This year was a tipping point for Taboola, with over half of our revenues now coming from mobile devices. Consumers around the world are spending more time on their smartphones, and in many emerging markets, these smaller screens are the only way that people access the web, presenting both new challenges and opportunities for our publisher and brand partners. While Taboola’s product team has always been focused on creating multi-platform solutions, we’ve also realized the importance of reaching consumers within native mobile app experiences (see our recent work with AP Mobile). Online user behavior varies extensively across the web — depending on context, device type, referral source, and more — and people immersed within mobile apps have proven to be particularly engaged, which makes these partnerships so valuable. Today, I’m excited to announce that Taboola has teamed up with InMobi, one of the world’s largest mobile advertising platforms. InMobi operates […]
In December of 2013, Taboola officially opened an office in Bangkok, Thailand with a mission to expand content discovery throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Almost 2 years later, we’ve had quite an exciting journey (see some of our recent partnerships with Baidu and Yahoo! Japan), and in our work with many local brands and publishers, it’s become clear just how big of a transformation is currently underway. With so many people in Thailand gaining access to the Internet for the first time, the opportunity for marketers to connect with new audiences is real and growing exponentially. Earlier this week, we announced our exclusive partnership with Thailand’s oldest native-language newspaper: Thairath. Taboola’s personalized content recommendations will be implemented across Thairath’s desktop and mobile websites, increasing audience engagement as well as creating meaningful new revenue streams. Site visitors will have the power to discover content from Thairath’s site, as well as Thai-language sponsored […]
